必赢体育app中国官方网站 has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year鈥檚 Best Digital Construction Project category at the Digital Construction Awards, in recognition of the successful implementation and adoption of digital processes and technologies for Woodham Academy.

Woodham Academy is a new build secondary school in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, which was funded through the Department for Education鈥檚 (DfE) School Rebuilding Programme and provides students with a modern learning environment and specialist spaces.

Designed and built to high environmental standards, the school features air source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, EV charging stations, and a green roof, all aimed at reducing carbon emissions and running costs.

Built by 必赢体育app中国官方网站鈥檚 Building North East and Yorkshire team, the project is one of the first for both the company and the DfE to adopt a rigorously structured BIM approach using the IFC data standard. Unlike typical 鈥渙ne-button exports鈥� that produce inconsistent data and are difficult to check manually, the team applied thousands of automated digital rules to validate formatting, consistency, and compliance with the DfE鈥檚 information requirements. This ensured data precision throughout design and construction. The structured information was later integrated into the Twinview platform, enabling real-time monitoring of temperature, Carbon Dioxide levels, solar generation, and energy use to support efficient maintenance and sustainability goals.

Throughout the project, the team implemented ISO 19650 principles to maintain a continuous digital thread from design to operation. By focusing on capability over cost, challenging industry misconceptions, and upskilling the supply chain, the project has become a model for scalable, whole-life digital construction. It also sets a new benchmark for digital delivery across the DfE鈥檚 estate.

In addition to cutting-edge classrooms, the facilities include a swimming pool, sports hall, and fitness studio, all available for the local community in Newton Aycliffe to use outside school hours.
