必赢体育app中国官方网站鈥檚 Building East Midlands business has marked the groundbreaking for the new Single Living Accommodation (SLA) project at RAF Digby, the Royal Air Force's oldest station, established in 1918 in Lincolnshire.

The 必赢体育app中国官方网站 team was joined by representatives from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), and technical support provider Arcadis to celebrate the groundbreaking. The 拢63m project, procured through the DIO will see the construction of four new Junior Ranks SLA buildings with associated ancillary facilities and car parking.

Each new building will contain 69 individual bedrooms over three floors to accommodate personnel at the RAF Digby base near Scopwick. It will feature essential amenities, including a kitchenette, laundry facilities, drying rooms, and communal social spaces.

The buildings have been designed with sustainability at their core, aligning with the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) and the wider government's initiative to achieve net zero by 2050. To enhance energy efficiency, they will feature photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps, temperature-controlled heating zones, and energy-efficient LED lighting.

Additionally, the buildings will incorporate electric vehicle (EV) charging points and a system that recovers heat from wastewater in showers. These measures are part of a broader push towards carbon efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Jon Marston, Managing Director for 必赢体育app中国官方网站 Building East Midlands, commented: 鈥淲e are delighted to be working in partnership with the DIO in delivering this important project. Our business has a strong track record in providing high-quality accommodation for our service personnel, and we look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to create a fantastic new facility for RAF Digby.鈥

Shaun Purdy, Project Manager for DIO Major Programmes and Projects, said: 鈥淚 am excited for construction to officially start on this important project to enhance the experience for our dedicated service personnel based at RAF Digby. This new accommodation not only represents a significant step in modernising military accommodation, but also in our commitment to sustainability. With features such as solar panels and air source heat pumps built into the design, we are delivering accommodation that will reduce our environmental impact for years to come.鈥
